Bursaries available from Clarion for Electronic Note-taking Course

Clarion Bursary Scheme for Electronic Note-takers

Electronic Note-taking Bursary

Aims of the bursary:

  • To increase the pool of OCNLR qualified electronic note-takers available to work in educational domains on a National basis.
  • To demonstrate our commitment to quality and excellence for our Deaf customers.
  • To work towards our vision of “Every Deaf person getting the best communication services possible in the right place at the right time, throughout life”.

Clarion is running a bursary scheme for new electronic note-takers. This is available for courses run by City Lit in London. Details of the course are to be found at http://www.citylit.ac.uk/ and the next course is 25th- 29th June 2012, 10 until 5. There is an assessment day on Thursday 14th June although this can be done remotely in certain circumstances.

There are several bursaries available for this first course and eligibility is very straightforward:

a) You must be interested in and willing to carry out educational assignments with Clarion.

b) You need to have met the criteria, gained a place on the course and received OCNLR certification at the end of the course.

c) You need to fill in a simple bursary application form.

Each bursary is worth either about 50% of the fees or the cost of childcare. The maximum amount awarded would be £400.

Please contact Julie O’Brien at julieo@clarioncall.net for a bursary application and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
