The Police Link Officers for Deaf people (PLOD) aim to make policing services more accessible to the Deaf community

Police provide monthly drop-in

Avon and Somerset Police have launched drop-in sessions for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, providing officers who are specially trained in British Sign Language.

The sessions will take place every month at the Centre for the Deaf in King's Square, Bristol. The Police Link Officers for Deaf people (PLOD) aim to make policing services more accessible to the Deaf community and help them to easily report crimes or discuss policing issues on a regular basis.

Annabelle Armstrong-Walter, diversity officer at Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Being able to communicate with the public is essential for the police and it is vital that we provide the right channels for all members of our communities in Avon and Somerset to talk to us."

Deaf, deafened, deafblind, or hard of hearing people can also access police services at www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact
