Support Plus is for Deaf adults who have additional needs or complex family needs.
Support +Plus
Clarion Support is driven by the needs of our customers who have asked for a significantly different service. They have asked for the swiftness and clarity that we provide to be replicated in other settings. Traditional service models provide a support worker and an interpreter. They are now asking for one worker with excellent skills in communicating and with additional support skills and Clarion have responded to this need by designing and implementing the Clarion Support Plus model.
Support Plus is for Deaf adults who have additional needs or complex family needs. They would be linked to the local authority, traditionally through social services or housing authorities. Our freelance Support Workers have: level 3 and above, CRB checks, PI insurance, experience as social workers/support workers in previous jobs.
Tasks carried out include working with the client to :
- Make phone calls
- Make sure interpreters are booked for doctors appointments etc
- Low level advocacy
- Understand letters
- Make sure bills are paid
- Improve Time management skills
- Improve Budgeting
- Look at Healthy eating
- Look for employment
- Confidence building
- Assertiveness skills
- Organising weddings
- Work with the whole family especially if the children are deaf
- Transport training
- Integration into the local community – clubs etc
- Visits to local deaf clubs, associations
- Visits to relevant voluntary organisations e.g. CAB
- Visits to hairdressers
- Courses, e.g. practical parenting
- Visits to the bank

Pre-appointment
Support workers are interviewed for their roles and the client is given a choice of 3 or 4 freelancers to potentially engage with and take through an interview process designed and supported by Clarion.
